As almost every real estate agent in New South Wales already knows, there is new legislation for residential tenancies that is coming into effect on Monday 19 May 2025.

Some of the legislation that was passed through NSW parliament last year came into effect on 31 October 2024.  The rest of the amendments are about to make their impact on 19 May 2025. 

The Australian College of Professionals is conducting 90 minute information sessions for agents to discuss these changes and the implementation into the daily practices for residential property management.

There will be five information sessions with one being conducted every day during the week commencing 12 May 2025.

Based on the information from Residential Tenancies Amendment Regulation 2025 and information provided by NSW Fair Trading, the information sessions will be focusing on:

  • Ending a tenancy
  • Lease Notice Periods
  • Re-letting restrictions
  • Keeping a pet
  • Fee-free ways to pay rent
