CPD Requirements for NSW Property Agents

The current CPD year for NSW property agents is from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. This means that there is only just over 5 months remaining for you to meet your CPD requirements.
NSW Fair Trading requirements for the conduct of CPD training is that training sessions MUST be either:
- a face-to-face interactive training environment – maximum 40 attendees and includes an assessment activity OR;
- an interactive webinar – maximum 25 attendees, and includes an assessment activity.
Fair Trading have mandated that online self-paced learning is not an option for this year’s CPD.
Class 1 and Class 2 Agents
For all licensed agents (class 1 and class 2 agents) in NSW, you are required to complete a set number of hours of training on compulsory topics relevant to the class and category of licence, and the functions that you perform.
- Real Estate Agents (Residential Salespersons, Residential Property Managers and Buyers Agents) must complete a minimum of 7 hours of interactive training
- Real Estate Agents operating as Commercial Real Estate Agents or Business Brokers must complete a minimum of 5 hours of interactive training
- Strata Managing Agents must complete a minimum of 4 hours of interactive training PLUS complete a mandatory 1 hour online module through TAFE
- Stock & Station Agents must complete a minimum of 5 hours of interactive training
- Real Estate Agents operating as On-site Residential Property Managers must complete a minimum of 4 hours of interactive training
NSW Fair Trading have identified that agents who hold more than one category of licence, must complete additional compulsory topics relating to each of those categories of licence. In reality, this means:
- If you hold both a real estate licence and a strata managing agents licence – you must complete the number of hours required for real estate agents (as per the functions listed above)
PLUS a further 2 hours relating to the 2 compulsory strata management CPD topics (as you’ve already completed one of the topics in the real estate CPD)
PLUS the mandatory 1 hour online module through TAFE
- If you hold both a real estate licence and a stock & station agents licence – you must complete the number of hours required for real estate agents (as per the functions listed above)
PLUS the additional topic relating to Biosecurity, Disease Preparedness and Incident Response (approximately 1 hour)
Class 1 Agents
In addition to the core hour requirements listed above for Class 1 and Class 2 agents, Class 1 licensed agents are required to attend an additional five (5) hour NSW Fair Trading accredited Business Forum during the 2025/26 CPD year.
ACOP has been approved to deliver this five (5) hour Class 1 Business Forum Training on behalf of NSW Fair Trading. Check our website for dates for these Accredited Events. Places are booking fast.
Assistant Agents
There is no change to the CPD requirements for Assistant Agents. Their CPD requirements are totally different from Licensed Agents.
