Those persons wishing to work in the property industry in NSW and participate in the management of strata services for owner’s corporation, are required to apply for an Assistant Agent Certificate of Registration with NSW Fair Trading. This process involves gaining a Statement of Attainment, which is a part of the nationally recognised Certificate IV in Strata Community Management qualification.

 

Students who wish to be a strata assistant agent will be required to complete seven (7) Units of Competency from the CPP40516 Certificate IV in Strata Community Management.

A certificate holder is known as an Assistant Agent (Class 3) and once you commence working in the industry, you will be required to transition to a Class 2 licence within four (4) years.

Each year an Assistant Agent MUST complete three (3) Units of Competency from the Certificate IV in Strata Community Management as their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This training must be completed between 23rd March and the 22nd March the following year.

In addition, ACOP offers the Certificate of Registration (Real Estate/ Stock & Station) in NSW.

ACOP is also approved to conduct the prescribed Agents Representative course for Victoria, the Queensland Certificate of Registration course.

This course is offered face-to- face or online.

The Certificate of Registration (Strata Management) is conducted over a four (4) day workshops. You can download our calendar to review our upcoming face to face dates.

For face to face assessments and online study, you will be provided with a username and password to access your course through our online Student Portal system.

It is important to ensure that you store your login details safely as you can log in and out of your portal at any time.

Please note that although our online training portal is compatible with mobile phones, some of the assessment activities relating to the completion of forms can only be accessed through the Adobe Reader Program, which means that you will be required to complete these aspects of your training using a computer, laptop or tablet.

For online study, hard-copy versions of the online content are available for purchase. If you would like a hard copy of the course content posted to you, this can be organised at a cost of $66 inc GST per course.

You will be given 2 months to complete this course.

There are no educational entry requirements for this training program, however, in order to apply for an Assistant Agent – Certificate of Registration through NSW Fair Trading, you must meet all of their criteria. These are:

  • You are over 16 years of age
  • You have the appropriate educational qualifications (this is what you obtain after successful completion of this training program)
  • You are not a disqualified person – NSW Fair Trading conducts a police check and they are looking for any conviction in the past ten (10) years. A conviction does not necessarily disqualify you – it depends on what the conviction was for. If you have a past conviction, it would be advisable to discuss this with us prior to enrolling in the course
  • You are a fit and proper person of good fame and character

At the conclusion of the training course and the successful completion of all assessment tasks, you will have achieved:

  1. Statement of Attainment in the five Units of Competency
  2. The Australian College of Professionals will provide you with the necessary documentation in order for you to register with NSW Fair Trading for a Certificate of Registration (Strata  Management), which will give you the authority to work in the property industry. The cost of this registration is not included in your course fee.

Each year an Assistant Agent MUST complete three (3) Units of Competency from the Certificate IV in Strata Community Management as their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This training must be completed between 23rd March and the 22nd March the following year.

If you completed your Certificate of Registration prior to 23rd March 2020 and did not make an application to NSW Fair Trading or have expired on Fair Trading, you will be required to undertake an additional online bridging assessment to upgrade to the new units of competency to register as an Assistant Agent.

If you did not complete your initial Certificate of Registration with ACOP, you will need to provide a copy of the statement of attainment prior to commencing the upgrade course.

ACOP will then assess if you are eligible to undertake a bridging assessment, or if you are required to complete the new Assistant Agent course.
